The Answer I Give When People Ask What Do You Do?

The Answer I Give When People Ask What Do You Do?

Since coaching is a new relatively new career field, it is always interesting to meet new friends.

When they ask, so Michelle, what do you do?

Generally I say something like

I help people answer the question:

What is the next best step for me to take in my life?

If their eyes do not glaze over, I then get enthusiastic and gush:

I work with people who are unsure of their next best step. And those who have followed the traditional formula for success and realize they are still unfulfilled. I help people by teaching them to build a bridge to their inner self and then use that connection to tap into the wisdom of their souls. I help them successfully navigate major life changes with grace, confidence, and ease. With these foundations in place, I show them how to DANCE with all of life’s decisions and start attracting m more fun, freedom and fulfillment.

For those more business-minded folks, I offer a more official definition of coaching:

Coaching is an expansive, expressive, and questioning approach towards thinking, living, and communicating which with practice, improves everything in life and business.

And finally, for people like my dear-old, conservative grandmother, I usually just say that I am in the field of adult education---because in the end, that is what I do---educate and empower people in those aspects of life we did not learn in school: love, labor, leisure, and learning.

Coaching is beneficial because it takes what you know and allows you to apply it to your real life relationships, career, health, and prosperity.

What are your thoughts about life coaching as a career?

Seek Knowledge and Apply Wisdom,

Dr. Michelle
