The Dark Side of Romantic Love: NPD
I am ending the second of a long-term relationship with someone that may have Narcisstic Personality Disorder. It's interesting, as they both were very similar...dark hair, Aquarians from the northeast. They also knew exactly what to say and do to get me to fall for them. The first lasted 8 years, the second, just 2, so I am definitely learning to see the signs ahead of time, and yet, feel disappointed to have re-created this pattern again. I know that I am not alone, though, there may be many of you reading this right now who are feeling the drain of your positive and light filled-energy with someone who cannot access the center of their heart.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this Valentine's day you be involved in a battle of the wills instead of blessing of the souls and you may actually be sleeping with a modern-day vampire---otherwise known as a Narcissist. Because Narcissists are such great actors, they will convince you how much they care for you, leaving you lifeless before you see the light of day. Sam Vaknin, a Narcissist who wrote the book, Malignant Self-Love has called narcissism the mental epidemic of the 21st century and has said it insidiously infects people who have daily contact with a narcissist. The psychological definition of narcissism is an all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy and behavior), with a strong need for admiration or adulation, a lack of empathy, usually beginning early in adulthood. Narcissists are overly obsessed with their image and are driven by their insatiable ego towards a ruthless and never-ending pursuit of gratification, dominance, and ambition. It comes with no surprise that 50-75% are male. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder that may be a result of childhood abuse from family, authority figures, or peers. There are two kinds of narcissists: cerebral (intelligence and academic achievements) and somatic (physical or sexual prowess of conquests). When you have NPD, there is no pill you can take to fix it. It is a condition you have to learn to live with and manage. Contrary to popular myth, a narcissist does not love himself, in fact, he often loathes himself and is thus driven to self-denial and bizarre coping mechanisms. A romantic relationship to someone with NDP is a source of life-giving energy that often leads to verbal and emotional abuse. One tell-tale sign is not being able to get some of your important needs met....they will only give you what they want to give you and nothing more. Possible Answer to What is the Shift?
I love how the Divine speaks to me. I had several people ask me, what is this SHIFT I keep he aring about. I opened a book and received insight. This is an excerpt from Marianne Williamson, a luminary, and someone I have had the pleasure to spend a little time with personally, who I believe is such a blessing to us all. This comes from her 1994 book Illuminata, and is in the very beginning in the chapter on Renaissance: The antidote for what is fundamentally wrong is the cultivation of what is fundamentally right. Should we choose to expand who we are on a fundamental level, new structures will replace the casualties of premillenial disintegration, and the next twenty years will usher in an age of light more dazzling than the world has ever known. ..Ultimately, the choice to love each other is the only choice for a survivable future. The meek shall inherit the earth because everyone else will have died upon their swords. .The opening of the heart is an awesome personal politic, providing us with an internal strength greater than any worldly power. As we receive God's love and impart it to others, we are given the power to repair the world. We have begun to recognize that our individual minds create our collective realities , and we are taking more responsibility for the world by taking more seriously our individual contributions to it. Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one. We are learning, loving, lighting, shifting, being, and maturing into our TRUE SELVES. MW says "We are looking not so much for more ground to conquer, but for a truer ground of being on which to stand inside ourselves. The most positive breakthroughs of our times are internal. This history of the world is the history of control.... seizing someone's soul is the ultimate form of control, because without soul we are without love. Without our love, we are without our power." So in my estimation, when each of us does what we each are called to do, in my case, free people's souls from any imaginary form of imprisonment, then all those soul seeds start sprouting, and when the time is ripe, a new earth is born. Be the change, says Gandhi.

The Storms of Life---Hurricane Dolly Visits Texas
Hurricane Dolly came to Texas yesterday. Storms can be very scary, with all that wild wind, rain, lightning, thunder, and destruction. Weather storms serve to wake us up to the reality that there is something bigger than us human beings, and our little endless list of needs, wants and desires. Storms remind us that we really are not as in control as we think we are! (Maybe that is why they can frighten us so much). Storms are also symbolic of life---hings like divorce, bankruptcy, getting fired, having accidents, family feuds, etc happen to each and every one of us. The good thing about storms, stress and challenges is that they come, and they go. And if we are fortunate, they come one right after another, like the dark night experience. (Hey if they are going to come anyway, may as well get as many out of the way at one time, right? That is what I told myself over the last few years, when I was challenged with literally one thing after another). What would good fortune have to do it with it? Well when we are living through our own version of hell….on the other side is our personal version of heaven. And those willing to walk through the fire, do get to the other side, and soon find that everything is quite amazing and delightful. I would like to point out that it is not a dark night of the soul----that is a misnomer---it is a dark night of the ego, because it is the ego that keeps us circling in chaos and confusion, when the soul just wants to sing and dance and party! Ms. Big Wind Dolly gave me some extra reflection time and guess what? The sun really does come out tomorrow! In fact, it is peeking through clouds right now as I am writing this to you. It times of the STORM: Fear Not. There really is nothing that can harm the part of you that matters anyway. I like what Deepak Chopra said, "One thing we can do is make the choice to view the world in a healthy way. We can choose to see the world as safe with only moments of danger rather than seeing the world as dangerous with only moments of safety." You know, Einstein said something similar: one of the biggest decisions we can make is if the world is a friendly or hostile place. My family sometimes wonder why I live in a place that is actually due for a hurricane and I just tell them it is where I am called to be, and more importantly, I choose to believe I am safe, secure, and protected at all times. If I can walk away from three major car accidents, I have cause to believe in something else besides little ole me---angels, the Divine! I want to send a big hug out to all of you who were sending south Texas loving thoughts, and I am happy to report, our little island (the north side anyway) did not receive much from Hurricane Dolly except some fairly heavy wind and rains. The only thing I lost were the car magnets on my convertible! So, watch the horizon for your next storm, and be calm, know that you know that you know that ALL IS WELL. In bright light, Michelle L. Are You Ready to Be Awakened?
2 million people can not be wrong. Oprah has the New Earth movement, and I have the Divine Life Academy, and so during our last week of the DLA, I along with millions of people all over the world, tuned in to learn how to release ego and allow essence to be more present. I am so excited because that means more of us are awakening. And when more of us are awakened and in action, life is going to get really interesting and fun! You may think just because you are waking in the morning and walking around, you are awake. However, what I know is that if your life isn't everything you dream it can be, then you might not be as awake as you think. Actually, I spent much of my life asleep at the wheel. Even though I was pretty intelligent and even very into self-help. I still had my blind spots. During that time, I let life happen TO me instead of consciouslycreating everything I wanted my life to be. I experienced the roller coaster ride of ups and downs, highs and lows, successes and set backs, all the while walking in a trance instead of ENJOYING THE DANCE! Something (finally) woke me up. Actually several somethings: a divorce, financial challenges, and two totaled vehicles! All of this shook me to the core and woke up me to the realization that it was time to make some changes and begin co-creating the life I wanted to live... on purpose. And my life has NEVER been the same since. Tolle said during the webcast, that everyone has a spiritual teacher---suffering. And that is true--- most of us have not experienced enough pain to learn a new way. We seem to have to attract wake up calls in order to get our little rears in gear, and moving in a more divine direction. Why is the process of awakening so powerful? Take this story: The student asked Buddha, are you God? Buddha said no. The student asked Buddha, are you an angel? Buddha said no. The student asked Buddha,then what are you? Buddha said, I am awake. You can choose to be buddha like and awaken (naturally) before the alarm clock goes off in the form of an accident, disappointment, break up, or other less than pleasant wake up call. How? By getting a coach and turning on the light to take a good look at how your life is progressing.
